Borders For Christ (BFC), is a mission thats focus is the skater generation, both locally and internationally.

In 1997, Chris Lauri had a dream in mind to reach the kids that were both outcasts, and desirable. So, lets hold the thought there, you say outcasts and desirable? What does that exactly mean?

Well, with the inspiration of Lauri’s personal savior, he found his focus, and area to reach. The Skating Industry, taking salvation from the heart and taking it the streets.

First based in Coeur d’Alene, BFC has over the last 12 years been building chapters in several cities. Their touring skate team, tours around the U.S. six months out of the year. The insight of Chris Lauri, has inspired many that fall in contact with this ministry. “We do not have time to sit on our faith,” Lauri states.

BFC’s goal for reaching the World with the Love of Christ, is bringing to knowledge the gifts, & talents that the many skaters have. Whether it be art, photography, skating, music, or really whatever. They feel as though they are to help nuture those searching, find the area and field they feel called to pursue. They believe its about relationship, versus attendance in a local congregation.

This 8 year strong touring team, having the heart Chris Lauri has, is now looking more internationally this new year. This last December, the team went to Egypt to do some demos and outreaches there. In May the team is planning to go to China. If anyone is wondering about trip info, or would like to go with BFC, check out there webpage at Boardersforchrist.com.

Once in a video presentation about the hungry, lost and hurting. You know the kind, the ones that are ever so moving, seeking partnership. During this particular film, Chris saw a vision of those skater kids in the place of the faces of these faces on the clip. The inspiration led to taking the love of Christ not only to the underprivledged, but those that are as well.

One of the battlecries that this ministry goes by is that… they are not building a team, they are building an army. Bringing the light to the other wise dismal surroundings, is what they are commissioned to strive towards.

One of the many events organized by BFC, is the Rail Jam Tour. A local competition that is open to all. Unique in the way, that all the points earned in each contest, in kept on file. At the end of the series of tourneys, you are able to have those points and work towards the grand prize($200.00 cash prize), which is in March of this year. The Hope Project is an outreach program helping those in need. One of the countries they outreach to is Burundi, Africa.

Over the holiday season they put an outreach together called,”Home for the Holidays.” This short term mission was formed to help 60 households ($1,000 a house = $60,000) from the Thanksgiving season to Christmas.

With the support of several sources. One of which, that is the first major backing, is Thryve Coeur d’Alene, and Thryve Seattle. This community of people looking to inspire a culture with the love of God.

Over the last year, the Hope Project has built over there quota, for houses in there outreach areas. With each house completed, there is such a new expectency and desire for the next house to be built.

The faith that this organization has for each project, is so inspiring. There 45 children sponsored through meals, clothes, and helping hand are succeeding on leaps and bounds. One of the interesting things about this venture is that it is supported by multiple sponsors. Serveral churches have partnered with this mission, in the local area.

If you are interested in more information on this great ministry or would like to make a donation. (All donations, go 100% to the Burundi project, in building houses). The website is www.hope.thryve.com & www.thryve.com.

The passion in the core group of dedicated voulenteers, have such a genuine desire to see those less fortunate, reach a better place. With the hope this project has, bringing the word, life, the essentials, and a warm heart; they will conquer the hunger and thirst of this generations deires.
