If you haven't figured it out already, we love where we live! We especially love it right around the 4th of July.
Like most communities in our beautiful country, Independence Day is a big deal in our town. But Coeur d’Alene does it extra special. To start, summertime in North Idaho is a dream, so you’re bound to have a day full of fun things to do, all in great weather and gorgeous scenery. (Maybe that’s why the scenic drive of the 4th of July Pass on the I-90 is named just that…) The people here love to celebrate and show off their patriotism all day with countless BBQ’s and firework displays, and stars-and-stripes-everything covers the town.
You can start your family’s day with the 4th of July Parade happening on Sherman Avenue (and trust us, this parade is actually a good one!) featuring all the reappearing favorites and new faces in our community. Don’t forget to pick up your coffee beforehand from the many local shops nearby to sip while you watch, then stay downtown afterward to grab lunch from the plentiful variety of restaurants, and play in McEuen Park, Coeur d’Alene City Park, or right on the beach. Wherever you go after the parade, make sure you’re back downtown for the spectacular firework show right over the lake, which is quite possibly one of the best – and it’s free! No wonder we are thankful for our country when Coeur d’Alene is in it!
Your first priority for the day – or before so you’re prepared! – is to stop in or hop online at CDA Idaho Clothing Company, because we have been gearing up to make this day a big one. Because of our local pride and our location right downtown, The 4th of July is one of our biggest days of the year, and we are ready to meet it with a bang! (Like fireworks. Get it?)
If you have walked into our space lately, you may have noticed our team is a bit busier than usual preparing our special Independence Day Collection for you to grab in time for the holiday. Literally thousands of items with our red, white and blue designs (including shirts, hats, stickers, and bottle openers) have hit the stock in the last few days to meet our friends’ patriotic needs with that special local flair. Andy has been hauling loads of shirts into the shop every day: “We had a mountain of boxes in here and we trudged through those for a while. Then I just brought in another small mountain today for us to work through.” Good thing we like the clothing we work with!
One of the things we love about these designs is that they can still look just as great the rest of the year too. We like to think practically 😉. A personal favorite is the new “CDA Space Program” design, which seems serendipitous with the announcement of the new U.S. Space Force. Aspiring Astronauts of North Idaho, you gotta check this one out.
Even better, the entire production process for our designs happens right here in North Idaho, so our huge stock-up and your purchases are totally supporting local businesses! Now that’s patriotic.
Of course, we couldn’t miss the opportunity to show off the newest member of the family, Stanley the CDA Idaho Bus, in the parade. Stanley will be struttin’ his stuff alongside about 20 of our friends representing all our favorite things about Cd’A, including coffee-lovers, outdoors-men-and-women, and longboarders. Plus, you may even witness a rare sighting of BigFoot... You’ll also get to check out all our stickers in action right on Stanley. If you still happen to miss us (and BigFoot), the shop will be open 8:00a.m. to 9:00p.m. that day!
We’d love for you stop by and grab your local Independence Day gear for Wednesday, and we’re excited to see you enjoying the parade with your friends and family! Most of all, we are so thankful for the beautiful country we live in and the freedoms we have. We are grateful to those now and throughout history who have fought and given their lives to gain and maintain those freedoms for us. We are so glad we get to celebrate all of this in the best part of the country, the Pacific Northwest, surrounded by our wonderful community here in Coeur d’Alene.
